Fred Barber

posted 7 Jan 2018, 06:31 by Lavant Players   [ updated 8 Jan 2018, 02:18 ]

We heard last week that Fred Barber died suddenly on 27 Dec 2017. Many of you will remember Fred as he'd been a member of Lavant Players for over 35 years.  He was one of the backstage stalwarts being the sound engineer for many of our shows, famous for his Sausage sizzle, often helped behind the bar on show nights and also served as Chairman for a number of years. He was a doer and a talker but also a great contributor to local organisations.  He was Chairman of 12th Chichester Scouts, a member of the Lavant Hall Management Committee, a volunteer at Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, a member of Air Aces and also helper backstage at West Dean New Theatre Productions.  He will be sadly missed by very many of us.

We send our deepest sympathies to Gill his wife and Stuart his son. Gill has very kindly agreed that we can dedicate our production of Star Trekkin to Fred's memory.

His Funeral will take place at the Oaks Crematorium in Havant at 11.30am on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Who Killed the Football Manager?

Our murder mystery which took place on 7 October 2017 was once again a great success. The script, again from Chris Martin, was extremely funny and performed with verve by the cast. Everyone enjoyed themselves and had great fun.
